About

OUR MISSION

The Oxford Skateboarding Association is a community driven nonprofit dedicated to supporting and growing skateboarding culture in Oxford, Mississippi. As a special project fiscally sponsored by the CREATE Foundation, we host inclusive events, create programs for skaters of all ages and skill levels, and advocate for the continued growth of skateboarding in our community.

Our current focus is leading a community effort to revitalize and expand the existing skatepark into a safer, more functional, and more inspiring space that will serve future generations.

OUR History

Oxford’s skatepark began with local skaters who saw a need and took action. In the early 2000s, they rallied community support, raised funds, and worked alongside city leaders to bring the park to life. With help from a Tony Hawk Foundation grant, the 10,000 square foot Grindline skatepark opened in 2006, built with room to grow.

The Oxford Skateboarding Association was formed in 2022 to carry that momentum forward. Today, OSA builds on the foundation those skaters created by leading efforts to revitalize and expand the park, ensuring it continues to serve and inspire future generations.

Our FUTURE

It has been nearly 20 years since the Oxford Skatepark was built, originally designed with space left open for future expansion.

Since then, Oxford and its skateboarding community have continued to grow, but the park has remained largely unchanged. The Oxford Skateboarding Association is working to change that by revitalizing and expanding the existing park into a space that better reflects the needs of the community today.
